Miku by Mauryan AI

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 August 2026  ·  Last updated: 12 August 2026  ·  Version: 1.0

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data the Miku mobile application and the website at mauryan.ai (together, the “Service”) collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. Miku is operated by Mauryan AI (“Miku”, “we”, “us”, “our”), based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Miku is a learning companion for students of Classes 8–12 following the NCERT syllabus. Because most of our users are children under the age of 18, this policy has been written to be read and understood by students and by parents, guardians and teachers.

The short version

  • We do not ask for an email address, phone number or password to create an account.
  • We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone, and we do not show advertisements in the app.
  • We do not use children’s data for behavioural advertising, ad targeting or ad profiling.
  • We collect the minimum needed to run the app: your name, school, date of birth, basic device details, and how you use the learning features.
  • You can delete your account from inside the app, at any time.

This summary is for convenience only. The full policy below is what applies.

1. Children, parents and consent

Miku is designed for students in Classes 8–12, most of whom are under 18 years of age. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), a person under 18 is a “child”, and their personal data may only be processed with the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian.

For parents and guardians

If the student is under 18, a parent or lawful guardian must read this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, must set up or approve the account, and must remain responsible for supervising the student’s use of Miku. By allowing a child to create or use a Miku account, you confirm that you are the child’s parent or lawful guardian and that you consent to the processing of the child’s personal data as described in this policy.

Our Parent Declaration sets out in plain language what you are agreeing to. It is linked from the sign-up screen in the app, where consent is given.

If you believe a child has created a Miku account without your consent, write to us at jaibakshi@mauryan.ai and we will delete the account and its associated data.

In relation to users we know or believe to be under 18, we commit that we will not:

We ask for a date of birth so that we can identify accounts belonging to children and apply these protections. We do not use it for advertising.

2. Personal data we collect

We collect only what the Service needs to function. The table below is a complete description of the categories we collect.

CategoryWhat it includesWhy we collect it
Account details Full name, school name, date of birth, the class you select, your language preference (English or Hindi), and a username that our server generates for you automatically. To create your account, to show you the right syllabus for your class and language, and to recognise you when you sign in again.
Device and app details A device identifier generated by the app, device platform (Android or iOS), device model, operating system version, and app version. To deliver notifications to the right device, to support the app, and to diagnose problems that affect particular devices or app versions.
Push notification token A push messaging token issued by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for your device. To send study reminders and streak alerts, if you have them switched on.
Learning activity Chapters and topics you open, homework problems you attempt, how many hints you reveal, whether a problem was solved, time spent on a problem, practice and test results, study streaks, and achievements earned. To show your progress, keep your streak, sync your work across sessions, and improve our learning content.
Product analytics Events such as screens viewed and features used, with the app version and a timestamp, linked to your account and device. To understand which parts of the app help students and which do not, so that we can improve them. You can opt out — see Your rights and choices.
Diagnostics and crash data Crash reports containing error type, error message, stack trace and the sequence of app events leading to the crash, plus recent app logs. To find and fix bugs and crashes. You can opt out — see Your rights and choices.
Support and feedback Anything you choose to send us: a bug report summary and description, an optional screenshot, an optional log file, and any email you send us. To answer you and to fix the problem you reported. This is entirely voluntary.
Notification settings Your choices about push notifications, study reminders, streak alerts and your preferred daily reminder time. To respect your preferences about when and whether we contact you.
Server logs Standard technical records generated when your app talks to our servers, including IP address, request time and request path. To keep the Service running securely, to prevent abuse, and to investigate faults.

We do not require you to provide a photograph, an identity document, or any government identifier. Please do not send us such documents.

3. What we do not collect

To be explicit, the Miku app does not collect or ask for:

We do not show third-party advertisements in Miku, and we do not embed advertising networks or advertising identifiers in the app.

4. How and why we use your data

We use personal data only for the following purposes:

Our lawful basis for processing is your consent (and, where the user is a child, the consent of the parent or lawful guardian), given when the account is created and when optional features such as notifications, analytics and crash reporting are enabled. Where we must retain limited data to comply with the law or to protect the Service against abuse, we rely on the legitimate uses permitted by applicable law.

We do not use your personal data to make automated decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects for you.

5. Artificial intelligence and learning content

Miku describes itself as AI-powered, and we want to be precise about what that means for your data.

If we later introduce a feature that sends what you type to a third-party AI provider, we will update this policy, describe that processing clearly, and obtain consent before the feature is used.

AI-assisted content can contain mistakes. Please read the educational disclaimer in our Terms of Service.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We share it only in the limited circumstances below.

6.1 Service providers

We use a small number of established technology providers to operate Miku. They process data only on our instructions and only for the purposes described here.

ProviderPurposeData involved
Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging)Delivering push notificationsPush token, device platform, notification content
Google Firebase (Crashlytics) and SentryCrash and error reportingCrash reports, error diagnostics, app and device version
PostHog and Google Analytics for FirebaseProduct analyticsFeature and screen usage events, app version, account and device identifiers

Google Play and Apple App StoreDistributing and updating the appHandled by those stores under their own privacy policies

Analytics and crash reporting are optional. Where the app offers a control for them, switching it off stops that data being collected; you can also ask us to disable them for your account at any time by writing to jaibakshi@mauryan.ai. When they are off, no analytics or crash data is sent to these providers or to us.

6.2 Legal and safety

We may disclose personal data if we are required to do so by law, by a court, or by a competent authority acting lawfully; or where disclosure is necessary to investigate or prevent fraud, security incidents, or a threat to the safety of any person.

6.3 Business transfers

If Miku or Mauryan AI is involved in a merger, acquisition or transfer of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will give notice through the app or the website before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Data stored on your device

Miku is designed to work when your connection is poor or unavailable. To do that, the app stores a copy of the following on your device:

This on-device data is removed when you sign out, delete your account, or uninstall the app.

8. Where your data is stored and processed

Our application servers and primary database are hosted in India. Some of the service providers listed in section 6 — in particular those providing push notifications, crash reporting and analytics — operate globally and may process limited data on servers outside India.

Where data is transferred outside India, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected to the standard described in this policy, including by contract with our providers. We do not transfer personal data to any country to which such transfer is restricted by the Government of India.

9. How long we keep data

DataRetention period
Account details and learning progressFor as long as your account is active.
After you delete your accountYour account is closed immediately and stops being accessible. Residual records are erased or irreversibly anonymised within 90 days, except where we must keep something longer by law.
Analytics eventsUp to 24 months, after which they are deleted or aggregated so that they no longer identify you.
Crash reports and diagnosticsUp to 12 months.
Bug reports and support correspondenceUp to 24 months after the issue is closed.
Server logsUp to 12 months.
Records we must keep by lawFor the period required by the applicable law, and no longer.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption of data in transit using HTTPS/TLS, access controls on our systems, storage of sign-in tokens in the device’s secure hardware-backed storage, and regular patching of our servers.

Please read this — how sign-in works

Miku does not use passwords. Your account is identified by the combination of your school name, full name and date of birth. Entering the same three details on any device signs you in to the same account.

This keeps the app simple for students, but it means that someone who knows all three details could reach your account. Please do not share them casually, and tell a parent, guardian or teacher — or write to us at jaibakshi@mauryan.ai — if you think someone else has used your account.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach occurs that affects you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by applicable law.

11. Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, you (or, for a child, the parent or lawful guardian) have the right to:

Controls available to you

We do not send marketing messages to users we know to be under 18. Marketing messages to other users are off by default and are sent only if you turn them on.

To exercise any of these rights, write to jaibakshi@mauryan.ai from an account you control, telling us your username or the name, school and date of birth on the account so that we can find it. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask for further information to confirm your identity before we act, so that we do not disclose one student’s data to another person.

12. Deleting your account

You can delete your Miku account at any time, and the deletion takes effect immediately:

  1. Open the app and tap the profile icon to go to Profile.
  2. Scroll to the bottom. Directly above Log out, tap Delete account.
  3. Confirm in the dialog. Nothing is deleted unless you confirm.

If you have uninstalled the app, cannot sign in, or are a parent or guardian asking on behalf of a child, email jaibakshi@mauryan.ai with the subject line “Delete my Miku account”, and include the username shown on your Profile screen, or the full name, school name and date of birth used on the account, so that we can find it. We will confirm the request, may ask a question to verify that it comes from the account holder or their parent or guardian, and will complete the deletion within 30 days.

Our Account & Data Deletion page sets out exactly what is erased, what we keep and for how long.

When an account is deleted, it is closed immediately, it can no longer be signed into, and it is no longer matched when the same name, school and date of birth are entered — creating an account again after deletion produces a new, empty account. Remaining records are erased or irreversibly anonymised within 90 days, other than anything we are required by law to retain. Learning content held on your device is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app.

13. Cookies and the website

The Miku mobile app does not use cookies.

Our website at mauryan.ai uses only the cookies and local storage strictly necessary to serve pages and remember basic preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies on our website. If this changes, we will publish a cookie notice and ask for consent where the law requires it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Miku develops or as the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always shows the current version. If a change materially affects how we handle personal data, we will give notice in the app before the change takes effect, and where the law requires it we will ask for fresh consent.

Continuing to use Miku after an updated policy takes effect means the updated policy applies to you.

15. Contact and grievance redressal

If you have a question or a complaint about privacy, about how your data has been handled, or about a child’s account, please contact us. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within 30 days.
